Virgil van Dijk is in the final year of his contract with Liverpool, and discussions over an extension have not progressed. The player confirmed that no offer for a new deal has been made following the 1-0 victory against Bournemouth on September 20. Former Liverpool player Emile Heskey expressed worry that interest from Real Madrid could influence Van Dijk's decision. He emphasized the need for Liverpool to act quickly regarding Van Dijk's future to avoid losing another key player. Heskey also identified Dominik Szoboszlai as a potential future captain for Liverpool, underscoring the importance of long-term planning for the squad's leadership.
