The agency remains concerned about potential misuse in sports that require strict weight management, including horse racing, boxing, wrestling, and cycling. Although few athletes have disclosed using these medications, a recent Loughborough University study found that 12% of surveyed sports medicine physicians were aware of athletes using the drugs without medical necessity. Any future rule changes approved by the executive committee would typically not take effect until 2028.
