Walker Eget named Duke football's starting quarterback for 2026 season

Walker Eget has been named the starting quarterback for Duke football ahead of the 2026 season, according to a media availability on August 27. Eget, who faced significant injury challenges, including multiple knee surgeries and a lengthy rehabilitation process, expressed gratitude for the chance to play again. After transferring from San José State, Eget secured a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA and competed with redshirt freshman Dan Mahan for the starting role. Eget's experience includes 5,563 passing yards and 30 touchdowns across 27 games. Duke opens its season against Tulane at Wallace Wade Stadium on September 5.
