Washington State University continues alcohol sales at Gesa Field with new rules

The Washington State liquor and cannabis board unanimously approved a one-year extension for Washington State University to continue selling beer and wine at home football games. This decision follows a pilot program conducted with Aramark last season. To address previous concerns regarding fan behavior and underage consumption, the university will expand alcohol-free zones to the entire north grandstand and adjacent concourse at Gesa Field. Enforcement teams and WSU police will increase monitoring at entry gates to prevent intoxicated fans from entering and to deter the introduction of outside alcohol. Staff members have also been instructed to identify and remove fans throwing objects onto the field. This extension serves as a trial period to evaluate the effectiveness of these safety initiatives before the university considers a permanent agreement for future seasons.
