Welsh Rugby Union appoints Siwan Lillicrap as head of women's coaching

The Welsh Rugby Union has appointed former national captain Siwan Lillicrap as the head of women's coaching and development. In this newly created role, she is tasked with overseeing an aligned system for players aged 14 to 24 across the performance pathway. Lillicrap, who earned 51 caps for Wales, retired from international rugby in 2022 and has since served as the union’s pathway manager and women's under-18s head coach. During her tenure with the under-18 squad, she led the team to a 32-24 victory over England at the 2026 U18s Six Nations Festival. WRU technical director Rhys Long stated that the appointment reflects the growth of the women's game and leverages her experience in managing player development centers across Wales.
