Western Oregon climbs in AFCA rankings after Lone Star Conference football action

The American Football Coaches Association released its latest Division II top 25 rankings on Tuesday following the first week of college football. Western Oregon moved up to No. 12 in the national poll after a 65-35 win against Southern Oregon. Central Washington fell three spots to No. 9 following a 24-17 loss to Cal Poly. Other Lone Star Conference programs faced mixed results during the weekend, including a 53-26 win for Sul Ross State over Adams State and a 56-14 loss for West Texas A&M against Grand Valley State. Additional results saw New Mexico Highlands defeat Western New Mexico 55-32, while Colorado Mesa secured a 42-23 victory against Eastern New Mexico. The league continues its schedule this weekend with UT-Permian Basin slated to host Western New Mexico to open conference play.
