The Chicago White Sox celebrated Pope Leo XIV with a special promotion at Rate Field on August 12, giving away thousands of Pope hats. The hats, designed in black and gold with a White Sox logo, honored the Pope's ties to Dolton, Illinois. A nun threw out the first pitch and local clergy attended, contributing to a sellout crowd for the game against the Cincinnati Reds. Although the White Sox lost 5-4 after leading 4-0, fans enjoyed the evening and the unique souvenir. The home run celebration also featured a Pope hat.
