William & Mary defeats Delaware State 22-15 after holding off late rally

William & Mary secured a 22-15 home victory over Delaware State on Sept 5 at Zable Stadium. Despite falling into an early 22-0 deficit, the Hornets attempted a late comeback led by quarterback Noah Brannock, who scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns after entering the game for starter Ui Ale. Delaware State struggled with ball security throughout the night, committing six turnovers and 11 penalties for 94 yards. Although the Hornets outgained the Tribe 366-187 in total yardage and recorded five sacks, they could not overcome their early mistakes. The Tribe, ranked 17th nationally in the FCS, maintained their lead by running out the clock following a critical fourth-down stop in the final minutes. The result brings William & Mary to a 2-0 start this season, while Delaware State drops to 1-1.
