Xavier Lewis and Derek McDonald earn ACC honors after North Carolina victory

North Carolina defensive players Xavier Lewis and Derek McDonald received ACC weekly honors following a 15-10 victory over TCU at Aviva Stadium on Saturday. The Tar Heels secured the win by limiting the Horned Frogs to zero points during the final three quarters of the game. Lewis, a sophomore defensive lineman, recorded five solo tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss, including a 4-yard stop of running back Jeremy Payne. Linebacker Derek McDonald added 11 tackles in his debut performance for North Carolina. Despite allowing 142 rushing yards to Payne, the Tar Heels defense kept him out of the end zone and limited TCU quarterback Jaden Craig throughout the contest. North Carolina now moves to a 1-0 record and prepares to host its home opener against ETSU on September 12.
