Yankees lose Peter Strzelecki to MLB free agency after opt-out

Peter Strzelecki has opted out of his minor league deal with the New York Yankees and is now a free agent. The 31-year-old right-hander joined the Yankees on May 23 and made six appearances with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, giving up four earned runs and striking out nine batters. With a solid 3.44 ERA over his previous three seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Cleveland Guardians, Strzelecki did not have a clear path to the majors with the Yankees, possibly due to the depth of potential bullpen arms in the organization. Strzelecki is now available to negotiate with any interested club.
