Zach Lutmer of Iowa named to Chuck Bednarik Award watch list

Iowa football defensive back Zach Lutmer has been selected for the preseason Chuck Bednarik Award watch list ahead of the 2026 season. Lutmer, a fourth-year player, previously earned recognition on the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Lott IMPACT Trophy watch lists. Last season, he started all 13 games, recording 71 tackles, three interceptions, and was named Iowa’s Roy Carver Most Valuable Player on defense. Semifinalists for the Bednarik Award will be announced on November 10, while the winner will be revealed on December 10. Iowa begins its season against Northern Illinois on September 5 at Kinnick Stadium.
