The event celebrates notable achievements from the past year in sports, with the U.S. women's hockey team nominated for 'Best Team' after winning the gold medal against Canada. The team, which included key players Hilary Knight and Megan Keller, garnered additional representation through rapper Flavor Flav, who arranged access and support for some of its members. Comedian Marcello Hernández hosts this year’s awards, which will also continue to raise funds for the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
