AEW changed Redemption main event due to MJF knee injury

AEW officials altered the main event of the 2026 Redemption pay-per-view, removing the originally scheduled matchup between Kenny Omega and MJF. The decision followed a hyperextended knee injury sustained by MJF during a title defense against Rush on a June edition of AEW Dynamite. Management moved the AEW World Championship to Kenny Omega during a TV special in Clearwater, Florida, to allow MJF recovery time before his participation at All In. This change also permitted the promotion to begin advertising a championship bout between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay for the Wembley Stadium event. Following the title switch, All In ticket sales reportedly increased by over 1,000 units. Will Ospreay ultimately captured the championship by defeating Kenny Omega at All In before a crowd of 41,102.
