Alberto Osuna wins American Association Rookie Position Player of the Year

The American Association named Sioux City first baseman Alberto Osuna as the league's Rookie Position Player of the Year. Osuna recorded a.316 batting average and led his team with 21 home runs over the season. He also paced Sioux City with 26 doubles and 47 total extra-base hits. His 80 RBI placed him in a tie for seventh in the league rankings. During the final 30 games of the season, Osuna maintained a productive stretch by recording 52 hits in 130 at-bats with 42 RBI. He is the first position player in franchise history to receive the honor and the second player overall to earn the league's rookie award, following Justin Vernia in 2018.
