Barcelona is reportedly holding onto hopes of signing striker Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid as the summer transfer window nears its end. Despite Alvarez facing struggles at Atletico, including discontent from supporters, the club is willing to wait longer before making a decision. Sources indicate that Barcelona recently decided to avoid 'stopgap' signings for a striker, with a strong possibility they might not sign anyone if Alvarez remains with Atletico. The club's management sees merit in their current attacking options and may revisit their pursuit of Alvarez in January if negotiations do not succeed this summer.
- •Barcelona still prioritizes Julian Alvarez as the transfer window closes.
- •Alvarez has faced criticism from Atletico Madrid fans.
- •Club opts against signing a temporary striker this summer.
- •Decision to wait provides flexibility for potential future moves.
- •January remains an option for renewed pursuit of Alvarez.
