Griner recently collaborated with the Connecticut Sun Foundation and the City of Groton to fund a $50,000 playground project, contributing $10,000 of her own funds. These efforts follow a month of philanthropic activities in August, including a shoe drive and the Forever in Play initiative. Team president Jen Rizzotti stated that emphasizing community impact is a priority as the franchise concludes its time in Connecticut. Across the WNBA, other players such as Angel Reese are also participating in charitable programs, including a recent donation of 1,000 backpacks through her foundation.
