Colorado defeats Georgia Tech 14-13 with late touchdown and blocked field goal

Colorado opened its 2026 season with a 14-13 road victory over Georgia Tech on September 3. Trailing 13-7 with less than two minutes remaining, Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis led an eight-play, 75-yard drive. Lewis connected with Charlie Williams for a 20-yard touchdown pass with 37 seconds left to give the Buffaloes the lead. Georgia Tech responded quickly as Alberto Mendoza completed a 42-yard pass to Dalen Penson, moving the ball to the Colorado 33-yard line. The Yellow Jackets attempted a 45-yard field goal to secure the win, but Boo Carter blocked the kick to preserve the result for Colorado. The game concluded in front of a road crowd as the Buffaloes successfully defended the narrow lead in the final seconds.
