The Cumberland boys soccer team resumed its season Wednesday night at Tucker Field following a period of inactivity linked to a school investigation. The team fell 2-0 to Bishop Hendricken in its season opener, which had been delayed after a scheduled match against North Kingstown was postponed. Superintendent Philip D. Thornton confirmed that multiple players faced discipline for a bullying or hazing incident involving team members at a private residence. Coach Larry Lopes fielded a lineup featuring several underclassmen while managing the absence of disciplined players. The school administration and coaching staff noted the importance of adhering to behavior policies moving forward. Cumberland is scheduled to return to the field on Saturday morning for a match against Moses Brown.
