Dalen Powell leads Ruston to 42-16 season-opening win over Neville

Ruston High School defeated Neville 42-16 in a season-opening football game Friday, Sept. 4, at Hoss Garrett Stadium. Junior running back Dalen Powell returned from an injury suffered last fall to rush for 271 yards and five touchdowns. The Bearcats established an early lead, though the Tigers kept the game competitive until a second-half defensive push from Ruston. Neville’s only touchdown came from a pick-six by Kayden Jones just before halftime. Ruston's defense held the Tigers out of the endzone until the fourth quarter while special teams recovered a late fumble to secure the result. The Bearcats now turn their attention to a home game against Longview next week.
