Detroit Lions honor longtime sports journalist Pat Caputo at Ford Field

The Detroit Lions dedicated a memorial display to longtime sports media personality Pat Caputo in the Ford Field press box on Sunday. Before the team's Week 1 game against the New Orleans Saints, the organization highlighted the career of the journalist who died in May at age 67 following a battle with pancreatic cancer. The tribute featured floral arrangements, framed photographs, and one of his former Lions press credentials. Caputo worked for four decades covering Detroit sports across radio, television, and print, including long-term roles at the Oakland Press and 97.1 The Ticket. Known as "The Book" for his extensive knowledge, he was also a frequent contributor to FOX 2 sports programming. The display stood as a gesture of recognition from the Lions organization for his years spent documenting the local sports scene.
