Eight-year-old Benji completes the Welsh 15 peaks challenge in 16 hours

An eight-year-old boy named Benji completed the Welsh 15 peaks challenge in Eryri on August 31. He covered 32 miles and climbed 15 summits, totaling nearly 4,000 meters of ascent in 15 hours and 58 minutes. Accompanied by experienced volunteers, Benji navigated difficult weather conditions throughout the trek while raising over £1,800 for the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue organization. His mother, Toni Howden, supported him throughout the endeavor by coordinating food and checkpoints. Despite facing extreme fatigue toward the end of the journey, the young runner finished the challenge. Benji now plans to focus his training on future endurance goals, including climbing Mont Blanc and attempting the 62-mile Paddy Buckley Round in Eryri.
