The Southeastern Conference filed a federal lawsuit against LSU and is seeking preliminary and permanent injunctions. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. CT at the Hugo L Black US Courthouse in Birmingham, Alabama. The conference alleges that LSU engaged in a campaign to recruit professional athletes to the football program, citing conduct that it claims undermines its organizational purpose. The SEC is requesting that the court validate its right to disassociate from such actions and protect the conference from potential retaliation. This legal action follows the exclusion of Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris from the LSU roster ahead of the team's season opener against Clemson on Sept. 5. U.S. District Judge Annemarie Carney Axon will preside over the hearing.
