Five security staff face termination after Manchester United fan assault investigation

Five stadium stewards have been removed from their duties following an investigation into the assault of a Manchester United supporter. The incident occurred in the East Stand at Old Trafford during the Manchester Derby in April 2025. Although the stewards were not directly employed by the club, they were contracted through Controlled Solutions Group and HR Security and Protection Services. All five individuals are now barred from working on any operations for the security provider. The matter was addressed at a fan forum in July, where supporters expressed frustration regarding club communications and ticketing policies. Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada stated that the club is reviewing its processes and aiming to improve future engagement with the fan base. The club prepares to host Sabah in their upcoming Champions League opener this Thursday.
