Jackson State coach T.C. Taylor identifies offensive and defensive improvements

Jackson State football coach T.C. Taylor is addressing team performance gaps following a narrow 26-24 victory over Tennessee State on August 29. Despite the season-opening win in Nashville, Taylor identified red zone execution and third-down defensive stops as primary concerns moving forward. The Tigers converted only one of three red zone opportunities into a touchdown, forcing the team to rely on field goals. Defensively, Jackson State struggled to contain Tennessee State, which converted 12 of 19 third-down attempts during the contest. Taylor intends to work on these situational aspects during practice as the team prepares for its home opener. Jackson State is scheduled to host Edward Waters on September 5 at 6 p.m. CT.
