United States Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk is implementing a new, performance-based qualification system for the 2027 tournament. The updated rules replace a long-standing method that relied on prize money accumulation with a fixed-point scale centered on 2027 competition. Points are now awarded based on specific finishes in 31 designated events, including majors and signature tournaments. By narrowing the qualification window to eight months, the new system aims to ensure the team roster reflects current form rather than historical earnings. The change takes effect at The American Express in January 2027 and concludes following the BMW Championship in mid-August. Furyk will determine the final six members of the team through captain's picks shortly after the Tour Championship.
