Mazeo Bennett returns to scoring form in South Carolina victory

South Carolina wide receiver Mazeo Bennett recorded an 18-yard touchdown reception during the Gamecocks' 57-0 win over Kent State on September 5. The play marked the first time Bennett reached the end zone in nearly two years. After a productive freshman season in 2024, the receiver saw his output drop during a difficult 2025 campaign that resulted in a coaching change on the offensive staff. Despite struggling with a limited role last year, Bennett opted to remain with the program rather than enter the transfer portal. Under new offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, South Carolina gained 645 total yards in its season opener. The team continues its schedule against Towson on September 12.
