Michigan football players hold meeting following narrow season-opening win

Michigan captains organized a team meeting on September 6 to address performance concerns following a 13-12 win over Western Michigan. Despite the victory, players described the team's effort as soft and noted a lack of focus on the field. Western Michigan controlled the clock for more than 40 minutes and outrushed the Wolverines 132-106. The team held a physical practice on September 8 to prepare for their upcoming game against No. 10 Oklahoma. Captains including Trey Pierce, Rod Moore, and Jordan Marshall expressed a need for increased accountability and a sharper mentality moving forward. Michigan is scheduled to face the Sooners at Michigan Stadium on Saturday, September 12.
