Miles Russell prepares to compete in Walker Cup matches at Lahinch

Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach is set to compete in the Walker Cup on Sept. 5-6 at Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland. The 17-year-old enters the historic amateur event as the 18th player from the First Coast and South Georgia region to participate. This selection forces Russell to bypass his opportunity to win a third consecutive Junior Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. He joins a U.S. roster that features top-ranked amateur Preston Stout and fellow competitors Tyler Watts, William Jennings, Josiah Gilbert, Ryder Cowan, and Ethan Fang. The U.S. team faces a Great Britain and Ireland squad that includes Florida State senior Jack Whaley and University of Florida golfer Luke Poulter. The event, established in 1920 by the USGA and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, remains a significant milestone in amateur golf careers.
