Mizzou defeats Kansas 38-21 to extend Border Showdown winning streak

Mizzou defeated Kansas 38-21 on Friday night in Lawrence, extending its win streak in the Border Showdown to five consecutive games. After a scoreless first quarter, Kansas took an initial 7-0 lead following an 88-yard touchdown return by Austin Alexander. Mizzou responded with a 64-yard touchdown run by Jamal Roberts, and the teams traded scores before entering halftime tied. The Tigers pulled away in the second half as Kansas struggled with turnovers, including two consecutive possessions resulting in a fumble and an interception by Isaiah Marshall. Austin Simmons led the Mizzou offense with 292 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Donovan Olugbode and Cayden Lee each recorded over 120 receiving yards. Mizzou moves to 2-0 and will host Troy next Saturday. Kansas drops to 1-1 and travels to London to play Arizona State at Wembley Stadium.
