New Britain defeats Windsor 28-12 in season opener

New Britain opened its football season with a 28-12 victory over Windsor at Jack O'Brien Stadium on Friday. Quarterback Billy Seymour led the Golden Hurricanes with two rushing touchdowns, including a 40-yard breakaway score in the fourth quarter. The defense contributed to the win with a 12-yard fumble return by Xayvian Crespo and a late interception from Julius Mendez. Windsor, the reigning Class MM state champion, struggled offensively and relied on special teams for its points, including an 80-yard punt return by Robert McKinney. This matchup pitted two of the top teams in the Central Connecticut Conference against each other to begin the 2026 season. New Britain now prepares for a challenging non-conference schedule that features matchups against Greenwich and New Canaan.
