Northland rallies to defeat Africentric in Week 3 football

Northland defeated Africentric 12-8 on September 3 in an OHSAA football game disrupted by a 50-minute lightning delay. After trailing 8-0, Northland scored the winning points on a 37-yard touchdown run by Caleb Wooten with 4:10 remaining in the game. The comeback was bolstered by a fumble recovery from Graceson Evans and a late defensive play by TJ Fanning that halted Africentric’s final drive. Northland played the contest without starting quarterback Akeilles Harrison, who was serving a one-game suspension following a flagrant penalty in the previous week's game. Africentric, which fell to 0-3 on the season, was led by Zyion Thornton and Jordan Simmons, who connected on a 41-yard touchdown pass in the first half. Northland returns to action on September 11 against Whitehall.
