Real Salt Lake signs Canadian defender Luc de Fougerolles on loan

Real Salt Lake announced Saturday the acquisition of defender Luc de Fougerolles on loan from Fulham FC. The 20-year-old Canadian international joins the MLS club for the remainder of the 2026 season, with an option to extend the agreement through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season. De Fougerolles previously spent time on loan at Belgian side FCV Dender EH, where he made 30 appearances. He also recorded two appearances for the Fulham senior team. The defender recently played in all five of Canada's matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, helping the team reach the Round of 16. Kurt Schmid, the chief soccer officer for Real Salt Lake, stated the club expects the defender to bolster the back line during the final stretch of the season as the team competes for a postseason berth.
