Sophomore opposite hitter Renee Jones has become a primary offensive option for Arizona following an injury to teammate Britt Carlson. Jones recorded a.400 hitting percentage and led the team in blocks per set during the opening weekend of play. Head coach Rita Stubbs noted that Jones adjusted quickly to the expanded role after beginning the season as the team's third right-side hitter. Beyond Jones, other reserves such as Payton Woods and Gigi Whann saw increased playing time during the Wildcats' initial three matches. Arizona currently holds a 2-1 record as the team travels to Omaha for the Bluejay Invitational. The Wildcats are scheduled to face Creighton on September 4, followed by matches against Tulsa and Pepperdine.
