Rutgers volleyball defeats LIU in four sets at home opener

Rutgers opened its home schedule at Jersey Mike’s Arena on Tuesday with a 3-1 victory against LIU. The Scarlet Knights secured the match with set scores of 25-8, 25-27, 25-16, and 25-18. Despite a dominant first set where Rutgers hit.650 with zero attack errors, the team struggled in the second set, committing 11 attack errors and dropping the frame after holding a late lead. Rutgers eventually regained control in the third and fourth sets to close out the win. The performance follows a mixed start to the season for the team, which included an earlier win over an SEC opponent followed by a four-set loss to Vanderbilt. Rutgers finished the match with 13 service aces and 12 total blocks to out-produce the Sharks in key statistical categories.
