Sav Rocca reflects on his transition from AFL to NFL career

Former AFL forward Sav Rocca transitioned to the NFL as a punter following a cold call suggestion in 2006. After retiring from a prolific Australian Rules career with North Melbourne and Collingwood, Rocca pursued an American football career despite initial rejection from numerous teams. He eventually earned a workout with the Philadelphia Eagles with the assistance of fellow Australian Ben Graham. Rocca went on to play seven seasons in the NFL for the Eagles and Washington, accumulating over 22,000 yards. This transition marked a significant milestone for Australian athletes moving into the NFL. The league continues to expand its international presence, with an official game between the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers scheduled for this Friday at the MCG.
