Section V football athletes compete for weekly performance honors

Voting is underway to determine the Turf Masters Football Athlete of the Week for Section V performances recorded between August 31 and September 6. The list of nominees features 11 players who demonstrated notable output in recent games, including standout performances from Avon running back James Chase and Monroe quarterback Terrell Cunningham Jr. Other athletes under consideration include Brody Pusateri of Pittsford, Jayden Jager of Churchville-Chili, and Brailon Johnson of Eastridge, among others. Sports reporters selected the candidates based on their contributions to team victories during the opening weeks of the season. Fans can cast their votes online through 8 p.m. Thursday. The recipient of the award will be announced via the organization's social media page this Friday.
