Tiger Woods pleads no contest to reckless driving in Florida

Tiger Woods pleaded no contest to charges of reckless driving and refusing to submit to a lawful test following a March 27 crash in his Florida neighborhood. Judge Darren Steele sentenced the athlete to a five-year driver’s license suspension as part of a plea deal reached on Sept. 2. The incident involved Woods clipping a pickup truck and crashing his SUV, which nearly came to a rest on a sidewalk. Although breath tests for alcohol were negative, officials discovered hydrocodone in his possession at the scene. Woods previously spent time in a Swiss rehab facility following the incident. Under the terms of the court ruling, Woods faces immediate jail time if he operates a vehicle on any public roadway during the five-year suspension period.
