Wake Forest defeats Purdue in double overtime

Wake Forest secured a 38-36 victory against Purdue on the road following a double-overtime performance. Quarterback Gio Lopez, who played through a late-game injury, scored a touchdown and a mandatory two-point conversion to seal the win. The Demon Deacons led for much of the contest after scoring 17 consecutive points in the first half to overcome an early seven-point deficit. Purdue stayed within reach behind the play of quarterback Ryan Browne, whose late-game passing efforts helped the Boilermakers force extra time. Wake Forest totaled 186 rushing yards in a balanced offensive effort, while Purdue struggled with missed field goals and disciplinary penalties throughout the afternoon.
