Benedictine defeats Camden County 27-23 in non-region football game

Benedictine secured a 27-23 come-from-behind victory against Camden County on Friday. Senior running back Stanley Smart Jr., who wore the No. 0 jersey as part of a team tradition, recorded 143 rushing yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Eron Mallard contributed significantly to the Cadets' offense with 163 rushing yards and an 87-yard scoring run, while kicker Parker DiTomasso provided two crucial field goals in the final minutes of each half. Benedictine quarterback Omari Burse completed 10 of 15 passes for 150 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown strike to Cole Henderson. The result ended a 72-game winning streak for Camden County against Savannah-area teams, dating back to 2000. Benedictine moves to 2-1 on the season following the victory.
