Commanders name five players inactive for week one game against the Eagles

The Washington Commanders released their inactive list for the 2026 season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Five players were designated as inactive for the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. The list includes wide receivers Luke McCaffrey and Treylon Burks, quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis, defensive tackle Ricky Barber Jr., and guard Tanoa Togiai. The decision to keep both McCaffrey and Burks off the active roster leaves Washington with five available receivers for the game. Jaylin Lane is expected to handle kick return duties in the absence of McCaffrey, who previously served as the primary returner before suffering an injury last season. Washington will rely on a receiver corps consisting of Terry McLaurin, Stefon Diggs, Antonio Williams, Lane, and Dyami Brown to face the Philadelphia defense.
