Donovan Mitchell explains why he declined a scholarship offer from Villanova

Donovan Mitchell disclosed that he chose not to join Villanova due to the recruitment policy of head coach Jay Wright. During a visit, Wright told the then-high school recruit that players in the program were expected to stay for three to four years rather than leave early for the professional ranks. Mitchell, who played two seasons at Louisville between 2015 and 2017 before entering the NBA, stated that he appreciated the coach's honesty about his intentions. Villanova eventually won two national titles during that era with players such as Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, and Josh Hart. Mitchell currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers and has been named an All-Star seven times in his career.
