Kenzo Kies, a player for Ligue 2 side EA Guingamp, has died after drowning in the Rhone River. The 25-year-old was swimming with friends during a severe heatwave when the incident occurred. Emergency services rescued three other individuals, but Kies was later declared brain dead before passing away two days later. At least 40 people have drowned in France since June 18, as reported by Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu.
