Ty Sims records first interception for Jacksonville State against Eastern Kentucky

Jacksonville State defensive back Ty Sims recorded his first collegiate interception during Saturday's matchup against Eastern Kentucky. Sims secured the ball at the 10-yard line late in the first quarter and returned it 84 yards, though a block in the back penalty negated the full distance of the play. Jacksonville State moved down the field following the turnover, resulting in a 30-yard touchdown pass from Caden Creel to Jamill Williams. The Gamecocks held a 21-0 lead with 11:30 remaining in the second quarter before a weather delay halted play. Sims previously appeared in a contest against North Dakota State but did not record statistics. The former Gadsden City standout earned all-state honors in high school, where he recorded five touchdowns and seven tackles during his final season.
