Walker Cup teams attend hurling clinic ahead of competition in Ireland

Members of the United States and Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup teams participated in a hurling clinic on Monday. The event was hosted by the Clare hurling team to introduce the visiting golfers to the traditional Irish sport. Hurling is a 3,000-year-old field game that utilizes wooden sticks and a leather ball, with historical ties to Celtic warrior training. This outing serves as a break from competition preparation for the 20 contestants and their respective captains. The 51st Walker Cup is scheduled to begin this Saturday at Lahinch. This marks the first time the course has hosted the biennial event, where the United States enters with a 40-9-1 all-time record and a streak of five consecutive wins.
