Wellington football beats Westwood in matchup of unbeaten teams

Wellington remained undefeated with a 26-0 road victory over Fort Pierce Westwood Academy on September 3 at Calvin R. Triplett Field at Lawnwood Stadium. Sophomore running back Jay’lan Tyler opened the scoring with a 29-yard touchdown run, and Wellington maintained a 10-0 lead through halftime behind a 41-yard field goal from Evan Holowecky. The Wolverines secured the win in the fourth quarter with a 25-yard field goal, a 52-yard interception return for a touchdown by Rhys Lewis, and a 2-yard rushing score from Elijah Thomas. Westwood, which suffered its first shutout since the 2024 playoffs, struggled offensively with 10 total rushing yards and five sacks allowed. The Panthers now prepare for a stretch of four consecutive road games, beginning with a visit to Palm Bay Heritage High.
