Oconee County and North Oconee co-host Volley for Vets charity tournament

Oconee County and North Oconee high schools host the second annual Volley for Vets volleyball tournament on Saturday, September 12. Sixteen schools are scheduled to participate in the event, which raises funds for Hire Heroes USA, a nonprofit assisting veterans with career transitions. Matches will occur across four courts split between the two schools, with pool play running from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by bracket competition. The tournament concludes with a championship round at North Oconee at 5 p.m. The collaboration between the rival programs honors military service, including the family history of coaches Taylor Brooks and Mark Oglesby. Proceeds from the tournament support military-affiliated individuals seeking professional opportunities outside the armed services.
