The State Journal-Register opens preseason cross country runner of the year poll

The State Journal-Register has opened its preseason voting for the 2026 cross country runner of the year. Fans may cast votes for the listed nominees through noon on Friday, Sept. 11. The list of candidates features returning runners of the year Ali Londrigan of Chatham Glenwood, Liam Bettis of Taylorville, and Paityn Brady of Sacred Heart-Griffin. Additional nominees include Lucas Hollinshead, Ryan Patrick, Joelle Wilson, Preston Short, Pierce King, Taylor Short, Adam Galvan, Sophie Rentmeister, Elayna Harker, Hadley Fleck, Lydia Woody, Millie Schumacher, Kasyn Jibben, Jonah Cunningham, and Collin Nolte. Voters are encouraged to review the full list of candidates before the poll closes later this week.
